1. How did you get started in the industry?
I was dared to enter an Elite Look of the Year contest and got picked up by the
agency in Atlanta. Then at 17, I pulled a Tracy Lords and did a nude shoot. Needless
to say, the photos caused a bit of a stir. The next thing I knew was that I became
a top fine art, fetish and pseudo-erotica model. The money was so easy and the
life was so much better than hanging out in Atlanta. I wanted to fund a music
studio and I knew I could make enough money modeling to do it. I always wanted
to do music, modeling was a way to create and fund my music. Then, I decided to
try to do fashion and everyone told me I couldn't, but I did and I went to Milan
and Paris and did the scenes there. Now, I do mainly music. I still model, but
go project by project. I am modeling more it seems now than ever :)
even though because of music, I can't work as much as a model.
2. What or who has been your biggest influence?
OK don't laugh. Kate Moss as a model; Beethoven as a piano player; The Beats
as poets; Trent Reznor and Tool in heavy music; Jesus as far as living life;
Buddha for mindfulness, Gandhi for peaceful protests; Sage as a modern poet; Dawnn
for health and healing; Brian Sirgutz for learning about the music business as
well as Vipassana meditation and claiming the monkey of a mind; the late Cory
Thompson for how to exist on the net and live outside the system as well as for
educating me about the truth about the government and state of the world; the
book The Artist's Way for balance in a creative life; the book Fit for Life for
health and diet; yoga for keeping in shape and balance; Tribe in New York City
for support and coverage and teachings; Tim Kellar in New York City for teaching
on spiritual things; David Kirby for teaching me how to produce; Stuart for teaching
me about creating characters; m mother for teaching me to follow my path; Jessica
Burner for teaching me how to travel around the world without a boss; Carlo Bistolfi
for giving me a hand in Milan; and Rob for his logic and grounding ability.
3. Out of all the shoots you've done, which one(s) were your favorite and why?
I like the ones I did with Cory Thompson (www.shortfusevideo.com) because they
were fun. I love working with Joshua Rubin (www.joshuarubin.net) and Jeremy Paskell.
Milan was freezing, but I love the pictures I made there. I LOVE having fun and
being nuts and doing extreme things.
4. What do you see yourself doing in 5 years (and 10 years)?
Going around the world through music, creating, teaching, loving through art and
trying to build a global community of artists, dreamers and freaks. Starting a
movement. You know, typical things.
In ten years, if things keep going the way they are, I will most likely be avoiding
getting a chip stuck in my body and trying to remain free from the system. I want
to be creating art, music and traveling. I don't see myself with kids. I
could only be with someone who lets me go out and I came to realize what makes
me happy is seeing other artists inspired and empowered and so I am looking to
try to use what I have and will have to do that.
5. If you could change any one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
I would change..... nothing. Without my flaws and weakness and mistakes
and things that are not positive, I would never learn. I would be shallow.
All the pieces of me, even the ones I don't like, are there for a reason and purpose.
I think we are all perfect as we are. Emotional sobbing hyper manic depressed
people. It's all good. We are made to feel and we will be imperfect. Perfection
is not what we do, or can do. We will never be good enough. If we can be
accepted as we are by the super mac daddy of them all, then why do we need to
change anything? I learned this recently. So now I know I am who I
am, and it's the way I am supposed to be. I will be aware when I mess up, but
it's no big deal. It's part of the learning process.
6. Describe yourself in 10 words.
Dreamer, visionary, poet, musician, singer, creator, catalyst, deep, passionate,
emotional, intense, love.
7. What was your favorite childhood memory?
When the angels came and talked to me in the backyard. That was my personal
fave although now I wonder if my parents dosed me with acid because I don't know
many who have those memories. Also, staring at the sun while my mother told
me I would go blind. And running naked in the woods looking for deer and dancing
to music in the living room.
8. What is your favorite curse word? Least favorite?
Hmmmmm. I say "fuck" a lot. It's a New York thing,
but I never thought about it. Least favorite, "shit." Most
likely because it is just dull.
9. Do you have any fetishes?
Do I have fetishes? Yes! Bondage, breathplay, suspensions, isolation
tanks, blindfolds, sensory deprivation. I love shoes and stockings.
I love a good flogging, although I never get them anymore. Hmmmmmm.
I love lots of stuff. I am more than a bit kinky.
10. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?
Time to make tea, talk to God, write, do yoga, and get going with the day. The
sun is always shining so bright in my place. It's sick.
11. If you could have lunch with one person (dead or alive), who would it be and
why?
Jesus. Because I want to know what he thinks about the current state of
religion. I have a feeling He isn't happy because they took all of His teachings
and twisted them. I would want to interview him and then send it to the head of
the Vatican and ask him what he thinks of the system of religion and then send
it to Barbara Walters and Howard Stern and all the news people as well as the
Pope and then I want to ask him about what he thinks about Bush saying that he
gets direct orders from God. I think that Jesus would agree that God doesn't
give direct orders to kill people. That stopped a long time ago. Then, I would
ask him if he ever wanted to have sex or fell in love.
And, lastly, I would ask him if he would wear boxers or briefs.
12. What is your favorite way to relax?
I have a few :)
Sleep, Turkish baths, yoga, walking, the beach, sex, masturbating, painting, running,
and massages
13. What advice can you give to people (for daily life)?
Simple! Know you're loved; Love yourself; Love the people around you; Understand
that emotions are normal; Know that you're perfect as you are, Love even when
it's tough; Try to put yourself in other people's shoes; Don't judge each other;
Eat lots of fruit and veggies; Sleep enough; Don't watch too much tv; Don't smoke
too much dope; Don't worship a god that can't hear; Don't use more than you need;
Live life to the fullest; Believe in your dreams; Don't believe that you have
to conform; Be free to be yourself.
All things are possible. But most of all, love.
I knowâ€∫I sound like a hippy
